TBI Officer Involved Shooting

LEXINGTON, Tenn. (WDEF)- Friday night Law enforcement officers responded to a domestic incident at a residence at approximately 7:45 p.m. CT on the 700 block of Natchez Trace Drive.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) special agents report that upon their arrival, a woman exited the home, followed by a male subject identified as Robert Tate, born June 16, 1984.

For reasons that remain under investigation, gunfire was exchanged between Tate and the officers.

During the confrontation, Tate retreated into the residence, where officers later found him deceased.

One officer was struck by gunfire during the exchange, received treatment at a local hospital, and was subsequently released.

TBI agents are working independently to determine the series of events that led to the shooting.

Their investigation includes collecting evidence from the scene and conducting interviews with those involved.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
