Marion County authorities arrest aggravated assault suspect

UPDATE: Massengale was arrested on Saturday, March 15, 2025 by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.

MARION COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The Marion County Sheriff’s Department (MCSD) is searching for a man that has been charged with aggravated assault.

MCSD released a wanted poster for 48-year-old Billy Dewayne Massengale.

Massengale has currently been charged with Aggravated Assault and False Imprisonment.

He is a white male, 6 feet tall, with brown hair and hazel eyes, weighing 210 pounds.

MCSD says he’s also wanted for questioning in connection with a homicide that occurred on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

It is unclear if this is related to the death that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is investigating on Big Rock Road.

Massengale was last seen in the area of Prentice Cooper State Forest.
