John A. Patten Park Transformed

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The City of Chattanooga broke ground this afternoon on a major upgrade to one of our local parks.

It was a big day for Lookout Valley as city officials, community members, and local leaders came together to celebrate the start of a highly anticipated transformation at John A. Patten Park.

This afternoon at 4 PM, a groundbreaking ceremony took place to mark the installation of a brand-new turf field, and a series of facility upgrades aimed at enhancing both safety and performance.

The multi-purpose field will provide a state-of-the-art playing surface for local athletes and serve as a gathering space for the entire community.

The project also includes a new perimeter fence for added security, upgraded dugouts, and a new scorer’s platform, thanks to support from EPB.

But the improvements don’t stop there.

City officials say Phase 2 is already in the works, with future plans for additional enhancements, including new lighting and expanded facilities.

With today’s groundbreaking, the park is set to become a premier destination for sports and recreation in Chattanooga. Construction on the new field is expected to move quickly.

The goal of getting athletes and residents out to enjoy the upgrades as soon as possible.
