Fire crews battle multiple wildfires across region
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Fire personnel in our area are working around the clock to fight and contain wildfires.
Red Bank
At 12:30 a.m., The Red Bank Fire Department (RBFD) responded to 1010 Hiram Avenue on reports of a brush fire.
Upon arrival, crews located a working brush fire.
According to the city of Red Bank, crews relocated to 20 Mason Drive to gain better access to the fire.
Crews with the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) and the Tennessee Department of Forestry (TDF) were called in to assist.
TDF cut a fire break around the fire and are monitoring it throughout the day.
The Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management Drone Team flew around the perimeter to confirm the fire was contained inside the fire break.
The city of Red Bank stated all fire is contained within the fire break at this time.
Residents may see smoke for a few days due to the smoldering debris.
Jackson County
At 7:45 p.m., March 12, 2025, the Macedonia Fire Department (MFD) and Section Volunteer Fire responded to a wooded area off of Alabama
Highway 35 on reports of a brush fire.
Upon arrival, crews found between 8 to 10 acres burning between Highway 35 and County Road 67 (Langston Road).
According to the MFD, Highway 35 was closed due to the fire and out of caution for the firefighters safety.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire without it causing any property damage.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
Mullins Cove
As of 8:37 a.m. Thursday morning, the fire on Mullins Cove Road and in the Prentice Cooper State Forest is at 85 acres and 50 percent contained.
Fire personnel continue working to fully contain the fire.
According to the Signal Mountain Fire Department (SMFD), the fire doesn’t currently present a danger to Signal Mountain.
Residents can expect to see a haze and smoke odor across the mountain, especially along Shackleford Ridge Road and Timberlinks Road.
Residents with respiratory issues are advised to stay inside.
