Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office arrests a man for multiple drug trafficking charges
CHEROKEE COUNTY, N.C. (WDEF) – The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit have arrested a man with multiple drug trafficking charges.
The recent arrest was a development in a case that began in January 2024. Colby Brett Philips was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine after finding 125 grams of the substance in his possession. He was issued a $400,00 bond which he posted.
After his release, the Sheriff’s Office continued to investigate Phillips after receiving information that indicated he was selling illegal narcotics again.
On March 4, 2025, Sheriff’s Office agents conducted a traffic stop on Phillips, who was driving without a valid driver’s license. During the stop, the agents discovered Phillips was in possession of 14.5 grams of methamphetamine, a handgun, and over $4,900 in cash.
Phillips was taken into custody and a search warrant was executed at Phillips’ resident. An additional 250 grams of methamphetamine, over $5,000 cash, and various drug paraphernalia was found.
Phillips is being charged with:
• Two counts of Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine
• Two counts of Trafficking Methamphetamine
• Two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Maintaining a Dwelling Place for Controlled Substances
On March 5, Phillips was issued at $250,000 bond, in addition to his existing $400,00 bond from his prior arrest. He currently remains in custody.
