CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A new exhibit honoring a Chattanooga war hero is set to open this weekend at the Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center.

The Captain Larry L. Taylor Exhibit will officially open Saturday at 1PM, celebrating the late Vietnam War veteran’s extraordinary heroism.

Captain Taylor, a Chattanooga native, was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2023 for a daring helicopter rescue mission during the Battle of Khe Sanh.

When asked about Mr. Taylor. Kenny Turpen, Development Director of The National Medal of Honor Heritage Center, told News 12 that “a couple of the values that Larry’s story exemplifies is integrity to do the right thing. His story of defining in order to save four men’s lives is about doing the right thing. It didn’t matter what he was told to do. He was ready to face those consequences and do the right thing.

The exhibit will feature historical artifacts, immersive displays, and a full-sized replica of his AH-1G Cobra helicopter.

Along with life-sized sculptures of the heroes involved.
